Description

The 10001/R/1 Vertical Bus Driver (VBD) module is a critical component within the Central Part (CP) of the FSC system, connecting it to the I/O level. This module is installed in the Central Part rack, with a maximum of 14 vertical bus drivers per CP. Each VBD supports up to 10 Horizontal Bus Driver (HBD) modules. The maximum distance between a VBD and any I/O rack on the vertical bus is 5 meters (16.4 feet). The VBD modules are used for establishing communication between the central processor and I/O modules in the system.

Module Components The 10001/R/1 module consists of two main parts:

1. Electronic Part (Mainboard): This part includes all the necessary electronics for the module's operation.
2. Wiring Part (10001/A/1): This part is secured to the 19-inch rack with bolts on the 96-pin connector, allowing for the exchange of the electronic part without disconnecting the vertical bus flat cable.

Applications

The 10001/R/1 VBD module can be used in various configurations:

• Non-redundant CP and Non-redundant I/O: Either 10001/1/1 or 10001/R/1 can be used.
• Redundant CP and Non-redundant I/O: Only 10001/R/1 can be used due to its relay which disconnects the VBD from the vertical bus in case of a CP shutdown, either through an onboard watchdog on the VBD or via software.
