Analog Input Modules Overview
Introduction Analog Input (AI) Modules consist of three independent input channels. Each channel receives variable voltage signals, converts them to digital values, and transmits these values to the three Main Processor modules upon request. In Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) mode, a mid-value selection algorithm ensures correct data for every scan. Each input point is sensed in a way that prevents a single channel failure from affecting other channels. Ongoing diagnostics for each channel detect failures, activating the module's Fault indicator and the chassis alarm signal. The Fault indicator signals a channel fault, not a module failure, allowing the module to operate with up to two faulty channels. AI Modules support hot-spare capability for online replacement of faulty modules. They require an external termination panel (ETP) and are mechanically keyed for proper installation in a Tricon chassis.
