GE IC695PSA040 RX3i Universal Backplane Power Supply
GE IC695PSA040 RX3i Universal Backplane Power Supply
Technical Specifications:
Introduction
The PACSystems RX3i power supply IC695PSA040 is a 40-Watt power supply that operates from an input voltage source in the range of 85 to 264 VAC or 100 to 300 VDC. This power supply provides three outputs:
- +5.1 VDC output.
- +24 VDC relay output for powering circuits on Output Relay modules.
- +3.3 VDC for internal use by RX3i modules with IC695 catalog numbers.
LED Indicators
The power supply has four LEDs indicating:
- Power (Green/Amber): Green indicates power is supplied to the backplane; amber indicates power is applied to the supply but the switch is off.
- P/S Fault (Red): Indicates the power supply has failed and is not supplying sufficient voltage.
- Over Temperature (Amber): Indicates the power supply is near or exceeding its maximum operating temperature.
- Overload (Amber): Indicates the power supply is near or exceeding its maximum output capability.
On/Off Switch
Located behind the door on the front of the module, this switch controls the outputs of the supply but does not interrupt line power. A tab next to the switch helps prevent accidental operation.
Wiring Terminals
Terminals for +24V and –24V power, ground, and MOV disconnect accept individual 14 to 22 AWG wires. Each terminal accepts one wire, and the end should be stripped at least 3/8-inch (9mm). When tightening the terminals, do not exceed a torque limit of 0.5 N-m (4.4 inch-lbs).

Installation Information for Hazardous Areas
For products bearing the UL marking for hazardous locations or ATEX marking for explosive atmospheres:
- Explosion Hazard: Substitution of components may impair suitability.
- Power Off: Turn off power before replacing or wiring modules in hazardous locations.
- Nonhazardous Operations: Ensure equipment is not connected or disconnected unless power is off or the area is nonhazardous.
ATEX Marking
- II 3 G Ex nA IIC T3C 0C<Ta>60C: Indicates the classification for use in hazardous locations.
Thermal Deratings
The maximum output power depends on the surrounding air temperature, with full output power available up to at least 32°C (89.6°F).
Overcurrent Protection
The 5.1 VDC output is electronically limited to 7 Amps, and the 3.3 VDC output is limited to 10 Amps. In case of an overload or short circuit, the power supply shuts down and continually tries to restart until the condition is removed. A non-repairable internal fusible link in the input line serves as a backup, usually shutting down the supply before the fuse blows.
