IO Extender Module (Safety Manager A.R.T.)

The IO extender module is a critical component of the Safety Manager A.R.T. system, positioned in slots 20 and 21 within the IO chassis. It facilitates essential functions such as communication transfer, watchdog signal transmission, 5V distribution, and status indication.

Functions

Communication Transfer:

• Transfers the Control Processor's communication to the IO modules.

Watchdog Signal Transmission:

• Distributes Watchdog signals from the Control Processors to each IO module position in the IO chassis.
• Enables isolation of individual output modules in case of errors by disabling the Watchdog signal of the affected module.

5V Distribution:

• Routes 5V from the Control Processor chassis to the IO modules in two groups.
  • Redundant IO chassis:
    • Group 1 supplies positions 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, and 17.
    • Group 2 supplies positions 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18.
  • Non-redundant IO chassis:
    • Group 1 supplies positions 1 through 9.
    • Group 2 supplies positions 10 through 18.

Status Indication:

• Features a status LED (OFF, GREEN, or RED) indicating the module status.

Dual IO Extender Modules:

• Each Safety Manager A.R.T. IO chassis includes two IO extender modules.
• The module in position 20 controls IO bus 1; if faulty, the module in position 21 takes over control of IO bus 1, managing both IO bus 1 and IO bus 2.
